Violet Mae Vance

Colfax – Violet Mae Vance, 86, of Colfax passed away with her family at her side at 6:34pm, May 31, 2012 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Her funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax.

Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.

Visitation will be held 2-6:00pm, Sunday June 3, 2012 also at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday.

Memorials may be made to Advocate Bromenn Hospice/Home Health, Colfax Christian Church Building Fund or Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association.

Violet was born March 2, 1926 in Colfax the daughter of Bryan “Chuck” and Vada Popejoy Powell.

She married William Leonard Vance on January 25, 1947 in Colfax. He died April 15, 2007 in Normal.

Surviving are her children, Rick (Ruth) Vance, Connie (Kent) Petersen, and Ron (Karen Munz) Vance all of Colfax; grandchildren, Katie (Ryan) Robbins of Peoria, Jeri (Rob) Crawley of Plano, Sandy (Josh Jenkins) Vance and Kelsey Petersen both of Colfax; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jacob Ridgeway, Leah Jo Jenkins, and Josh Crawley; brothers Loren (Betty) Powell of Colfax, Larry (Phyllis) Powell of Tipton, IA and Robert Powell of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Dorothy Kelly and Lorene Powell.

Violet was a member of the Colfax Christian Church. She farmed with her husband in the Colfax area. She also worked for 21years at Casey’s General Store in Colfax.

Violet was blessed with many friends who along with her family will miss her dearly.
