Joan Immke

Saunemin – Joan Immke, 80, of Saunemin, passed away at 12:28am, February 25, 2013 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community.

Her funeral will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Forrest United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Forrest.

Visitation will be held from 4-7:00pm, Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis, Chicago Branch, Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, or Forrest United Methodist Church.

Joan was born January 6, 1933 in McDowell, the daughter of Eugene and Guthrie Crews Billington.

She married Robert Immke on September 7, 1952 in Saunemin. He survives.

Also surviving are her children; Bill (Mary) Immke of Pontiac, Carol (Brent) Gosteli of Flanagan,and Lisa (Tim) Kates of Herscher; grandchildren, Amy (Brent) VanHoveln, Eric (Jennifer) Immke, Brett (Kari) Gosteli, Christina (Kyle) Ensley, Lauren (Fiance’ Chris Brehmer) Kates, Dan, Tom, and Megan Kates; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Delores) Billington of Pontiac, Robert (Donna) Billington of Fairbury, and Walter (Louise) Billington of Odell; sisters, Mary (George) Dohleman of Rantoul, Susie Manies of San Diego, and Carol (Earl) Lambert of Pontiac.

Joan farmed with her husband in the Saunemin area. She was a member of Forrest United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher.

She loved jigsaw puzzles and crocheting items for her grandchildren. Joan was an avid Cubs fan and loved the 4th of July.

She was a wonderful and devoted grandma and will be missed greatly by all of her family.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the love and care given to Joan to the staff at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community.
