A. Helen McCracken, 100, of Chenoa, passed away at 12:24 pm, Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Heritage Manor Healthcare, Dwight.
Cremation rites have been accorded with a graveside inurnment at 1 pm, Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Braceville-Gardner Cemetery, Braceville, IL. Following the inurnment at 5 pm on Friday will be a memorial supper & time of fellowship at the Pontiac VFW. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.
Helen was born on May 29, 1911 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Irl M.and Mary Irene (Barringer) Willhoyte. She married Arthur E. Armstrong on September 25, 1939. He passed away on January 13, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Barbara Jean Bolles and one brother, Elmo M. Willhoyte.
Survivors include her sister, Erlene White of O'Fallon, IL; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends Bob and Judy Erlinger and Mike and Leslie Cleary.
Helen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Chenoa and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Pontiac.
She was a loving and generous person who thoroughly enjoyed family, friends, fishing and fun. She was very active socially also enjoying camping, traveling and playing cards. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends whose lives she so generously touched.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Pontiac or Trinity Lutheran Church, Chenoa.
