Pontiac: Albert Tavener, 79, of Pontiac passed away at 2:28 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in Winter Park, FL.

Funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at McDowell United Methodist Church, McDowell. Rev. Donna Baker and Deacon Michael An will be officiating. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4-7:00pm, Friday, February 18, 2011 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to services on Saturday.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to McDowell United Methodist Church or St. James Hospice.

Albert was born October 20, 1931 in Pontiac the son of Raymond and Lorena Post Tavener. He married Mary Ann Umphenour on December 30, 1951 in Chenoa. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Jeanne (Mark) Elliott and Carol Tavener both of Fairbury; grandchildren, Rachel (Matt) Aupperle, Jeremy (Amanda) Rambo and Jason Elliott; great-grandchildren, Kane Aupperle and Jacob Rambo; sister Darlene (Bill) Helmers of Cropsey.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Matt Rambo and Megan Schroen.

Albert was a very active member of the McDowell United Methodist Church. He served on the Board of Directors at Bluestem National Bank, Fairbury, a board member of McDowell Elevator and the Pontiac Elks Lodge #1019.

Having a huge love of golf Albert scored not only one but two Hole in One golf shots, first being at Wolf Creek Golf Club, Pontiac and the second on at Medinah Country Club.

He was an avid bowler, participating in the mixed league at Bernadette's Bowling Center in Fairbury.

Albert also loved the outdoors, going fishing and providing for his family as a farmer. H e also had the talent of woodworking.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
