Obituary
Alfred E. "Gene" Cox 86, of Normal formerly of Colfax-Cropsey area passed away at 6:55 pm, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Graveside services will be held at 10 am, Saturday, August 20, 2011 in Cropsey Cemetery, Cropsey, IL with Pastor Paulette Cott officiating. There will be no visitation. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
Gene was born September 14, 1924 in Belle Prairie Twp., Livingston County a son to Amos and Ethel (Ward) Cox. He graduated from Cropsey Schools and later married Patricia Tolen on September 2, 1969 in Springfield, IL. They were lifetime farmers in the Cropsey area. She survives in Normal.
Other survivors include one brother, Logan (Dorothy) Cox, Bradenton, FL; one sister in-law, Bernice Cox, Fairbury, IL; and ten nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wayne Cox and two sisters, Beulah Barnes and Emma Louise McGill.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to OSF Hospice.
