Obituary

Alfred "Red" Stockle, 82, of Colfax, passed away at 8:32 am, Friday, February 12, 2016 at his residence in Colfax.

His funeral service will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Colfax United Methodist Church, Colfax; with Pastor Gifty Roberts Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax; with military rites conducted by Colfax American Legion and VFW posts.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm, Monday, February 15, 2016, at Colfax United Methodist Church, Colfax. There will be an IOOF service at 7:45pm to conclude the visitation by Livingston Lodge #190. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Colfax United Methodist Church, Colfax.

Red was born February 17, 1933 in Lexington, the son of Alfred and Dorothy (Nutt) Stockle Sr. He married Rosemary Grace on July 7, 1957 in Fairbury. His wife Rosemary survives in Colfax.

Other survivors include three daughters, Dorothea "Dot" Stockle of Bloomington; Pauline (Daryl) Ferguson of Colfax; Rev. Rachel Stockle of Loda; one grandson, David Ferguson of Colfax; five sisters, Charlotte Stoops of Cooksville; Mary (Ron) Poppe of California; Shirley Worthington of Texas; Nancy (Jerry) Nord of Saybrook; Donna (Scot) Hahn of Arizona.

His parents, one brother, David "Bud" Stockle, and infant sister, Ruth preceded him in death.

Red was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church, Colfax; and served as trustee for many years. He graduated in 1951 from Octavia High School, Colfax; and was drafted into the US Army in 1956, serving for two years. He was a volunteer fireman in Colfax and Cooksville for over 20 years. He was instrumental in the forming of and was one of the first EMT's on EMCAA, Colfax.

Red was a member of the IOOF Livingston Lodge #190, where he served as Past Noble Grand. He was involved in the Walk to Emmaus, Bloomington-Normal #32. He was an avid fisherman, often dragging his long suffering wife along, as well as a talented wood worker. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
