Alice Marie Myer, 91, a resident of Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa and formerly of Bloomington died at 5:33am Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the retirement community.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Burial will be in the North Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Forrest.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday also at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be given to Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa or OSF Hospice, Bloomington.
Mrs. Myer was born April 7, 1923 in Forrest, IL the daughter of Henry and Lydia Bahler Kilgus. She married Gene Myer on December 27, 1968 in Bloomington, IL. He survives in Chenoa, IL.
Other survivors include three step children, Penny Kawalski, Roger Myer, both of Texas, Pam MacKenzie, Bloomington, IL, and two brothers, Earl Kilgus, Francesville, IN and John Kilgus, Fairbury, IL.
She is preceded in death by one infant brother.
Mrs. Myer had attended the Apostolic Christian Church, Bloomington. She was self employed most of her adult life working as a masseuse in Chicago and Bloomington. She had owned and operated a health food store, Bloomington and later the Myerling, Bloomington. She retired to Florida and later returned to Bloomington. She was an accomplished artist.
