Obituary

Chenoa - Alma L. Brucker, 87, of Chenoa, passed away on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Her funeral will be held at 11am, Saturday February 24th, 2024, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chenoa. Pastor Kyle Ronchetto will officiate. Burial will follow at Chenoa Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 – 10:45 am on Saturday morning, at the church prior to the funeral.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Alma was born March 7, 1936, the daughter of Lawrence and Marie (Seeman) Rhoda. She married Robert Brucker on June 21, 1959 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chenoa. He survives in Chenoa.

Also surviving are her four children: Michael (Beth) Brucker, North Fort Myers, FL; Karen (Mark) Heins, Chenoa; John Brucker, Chicago; and Paul Brucker, Brownsburg, IN. She is survived by her seven grandchildren: Travis and Jake Heins, and Grant, Kent, Rhoda, Hayden, and Ella Brucker, and two great-grandchildren: Hayzel and Tessa Heins. Alma is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marcella (Frank) Meyer.

Alma is preceded in death by both parents and her siblings: Franklin (Joyce) Rhoda, Erma (Harlan) Kahle, and Arthur Charles. Also preceding in death is her niece, Teresa Rhoda, and sister-in-law Erlene (Kenny) Hardt.

Alma attended Illinois State Normal University where she attained a certification in education. After working as a teacher in Gibson City for two years she returned home to raise a family and help Robert with the family farm. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and shared her love for crafts with the vacation bible school. For over 50 years she was involved with Home Extension. Alma helped start the Tuesday Bridge Club in 1972, which is still active today. She loved to spend time at their Riverwoods home in Florida where she was on the tennis team, played cards, and spent time with friends and family. She enjoyed crafts, camping, fishing, boating, and raising horses.
