Obituary

Ann L. Kennedy, 90, Fairbury died at 12:03 pm Monday, July 14, 2008 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.

Her funeral mass will be at 10:00 am Friday, July 18, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fairbury with Fr. Scott Archer officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with a rosary to be recited at 3:45 pm. The family suggests memorials be given to OSF St. James Hospice; Dominy Memorial Library; Fairview Haven Nursing Home or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Kennedy was born April 6, 1918 in Fairbury, the daughter of George Harlow and Nellie E. Way King. She married Francis "Hank" Kennedy June 10, 1940 in Peoria. He died in December of 1967.

Surviving are three daughters, Shirley (Ray) Meenen, Forrest, Diane (Eli) Meister, Marcia (Joe) Oprondek, both of Fairbury, one son, John (Sharon) Kennedy, Frederick, MD, one daughter-in-law, Pat Kennedy, sixteen grandchildren, Sherri (Joe) Maurer, Steve (Kim) Meenen, Julie Meenen, Chris (Debbie) Kennedy,Tim (Anne) Kennedy Greg (Khanchana) Kennedy, Cathy (Jeff) Ernst, Kevin (Sara) Kennedy, Scot (Emi) Kennedy, Heather (Walter) Dinicola, Josh (Jackie) Meister,Zach (Gina) Meister, David (fiancé, Collete Ptacek) Oprondek, Theresa, Rachael and Sarah Oprondek. Also surviving are eighteen great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a son James who died in September of 1994.

Mrs. Kennedy had worked at the Dominy Memorial Library. She was a secretary at Issac Walton School and later worked at Westview grade school's learning center. She was the curator at Fairbury Echoes Museum, volunteered at the Westview grade school library, Fairbury Hospital and had been an election judge. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, women's club, art club and the Altar and Rosary Society of her church. She enjoyed traveling, photography and ceramics.
