Arden David Kaskavage, 83, of Fairbury passed away at 2:45 pm on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Morton Terrace Care Center, Morton.
Funeral Services will be 11 am, Friday, November 16, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church, Fairbury with Father Scott Archer officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury with military rites conducted by Fairbury American Legion Post #54 and VFW Post #9789. There will be no public visitation.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to, American Alzheimer's Association.
Arden was born June 4, 1929 in Berlin, WI the son of John and Margaret (McGregor) Kaskavage. He married Betty Klein on December 3, 1952. She preceded him in death on March 30, 1999.
Survivors include his children, Kim (Paul) Coomber of Fairbury; Carol (Patrick Reeves) Border of Pekin; Bill (Linda) Border of Fairbury; one sister, Doris Polakowski of Berlin, WI; five grandchildren, Kristy (Delane) King of Fairbury; John (Miranda) Coomber of Forrest; Breanna (Patrick) Smith of Fairbury; Michael Border of St. Louis, MO; Amber (Michael) Thomas of Normal; and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife and three brothers.
Arden served our country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Fairbury. In 1947 He was named "Mr. Berlin" in Berlin, WI. Arden and his wife Betty co-owned and operated Ben Franklin Variety Stores in Gibson City and Colfax for many years. His gentle spirit and tender heart will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
