Obituary
Fairbury: B. Duane Kafer, 77, Fairbury died at 10:03 AM, Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury with the Ministers of the Church officiating. Burial will be at Cropsey Cemetery, Cropsey. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Wednesday prior to services at the church.
Mr. Kafer was born July 12, 1929 in Fairbury, the son of Ben and Elsie (Neth) Kafer. He married Patricia A. Coen June 15, 1957 in Kankakee, IL. She survives in Fairbury. Also surviving are his children: Patti (Ed) Davis, Olney, IL, Ben (Carol) Kafer, Fairbury, Pamela (John) Steidinger, Smyrna, TN. Two brothers: Richard (Jeanne) Kafer, Kenneth (Gail) Kafer, both of Fairbury, three sisters: Lois Stephen, Scottsdale, AZ, Eleanor (Jim) Mott, Bloomington, Carol (Jerry) McGivern, Bloomington, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one granddaughter.
Duane was a 1947 graduate of Fairbury Twp. High School. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Kafer owned and operated Kafer Tiling & Ditching in Fairbury for over 50 years. He was a member of the Fairbury American Legion, Post #54. Duane loved camping and visiting with people.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury or the American Stroke Association.
