Barbara Ann Graves, aged 77, passed away peacefully at home, in rural Pontiac surrounded by family on October 2nd, 2026 at 4:00 pm. A devoted wife of over 60 years and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Barb’s life was centered on her family.

Born Barbara Ann Dunham on March 29, 1949 in Fairbury, Illinois, she was the middle of three daughters and grew up on her family’s farm. She met her sweetheart, Paul Graves, Sr. and they married on March 4th, 1966 and raised three children together.

Farming was always a large part of her identity and genealogy was one of her passions. She traced her family’s history by hand long before websites made it popular and easy. She was also known for her love of gardening, serving as a Master Gardener. Whether it was tending her plants, children, or the cemeteries she helped care for, she was always a devoted caretaker.

Barb is survived by her husband, Paul Graves, Sr, her sister, Beth Murphy, her surviving children, Paul Graves Jr and Karen Graves, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. She is preceded by her parents, Hilton and Maxine (Umphenour) Dunham, her sister, Beverly Ferguson, and her son, Jeffrey Graves.

A graveside service will be held at Payne Cemetery, rural Chenoa at 10:30 am Tuesday, October 6, 2026 with Pastor Jeff Williams officiating. Memorials may be made to Carle Hospice, Carle Homecare, and Illinois Cancer Care. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is assisting with arrangements.
