Obituary

Chenoa – Barbara Jean Harland, 75, of Chenoa passed away at 9:55pm Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Prairieview Mennonite Church, Gridley. Pastor Ralph Wingate from Calvary Baptist Church, Normal, will be officiating.

Burial will be in Waldo Cemetery, Gridley.

Visitation will be from 4-7:00pm, Friday, July 15, 2011 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.

Barbara was born March 5, 1936 in Pontiac the daughter of Omer and Irene Dellenbach Yordy.

She married Phillip Harland on July 31, 1965. He survives.

Also surviving are her daughter, Kristine (Rich) Streeter of Orland, IN; son Craig (Darci) Harland of Gridley; grandchildren, John, Matthew, David, Andrew, Kendra, and Megan Streeter, Caleb and Corban Harland of Gridley; and sister-in-law, Ruth Yordy of Rapid City, SD.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Lowell Yordy.

Barbara was a member of Prairieview Mennonite Church where she played the organ for many years. She has attended Calvary Baptist Church for the last six years.

She attended Goshen College for one year after high school. She was an administrative secretary for Mennonite Hospital and for the last 40 years she worked with her husband at Harland's Accounting. Barbara retired in 2007.

Barbara's hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. She also enjoyed listening to southern gospel music and attended the National Quartet Convention in Louisville.

Family was the most important part of Barbara's life. She loved and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren.
