Barbara Ellen Story, 61, of Huntsville, AL and formerly of Fairbury, passed away June 30, 2009 at 6:48 am at her home in Hunstville, Alabama.

Funeral will be held at 10:30 am Monday, July 6, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury, IL. Pastor Al Story will be officiating. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Fairbury. Visitation will be held from 4 – 8:00 pm Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury.

Barbara was born May 18, 1948 in Fairbury, daughter of Wendell Sr. and Mary Ellen (Zimmerman) Nylander. She married James Neil Story on June 12, 1966 in Cullom, Illinois at the Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband of 43 years Jim Story, her children Jeff (Kristi) Story of Tennessee, Melissa (Jeff) Nagel of Fairbury, her mother Mary Ellen Nylander, her brother Wendell "Butch" (Carol) Nylander of Fairbury, and sister Peggy (Rich) Peterson of Texas, grandchildren Jordan, Anthony, Talia, Joshua, and Amanda Story of Tennessee and Gabriella and Noah Nagel of Fairbury. She was preceded in death by her father Wendell Nylander Sr.

Barbara was a graduate of Kempton- Cabrey High School. She and her husband took over Nylander Flowers from her parents Wendell and Mary Ellen Nylander and ran this business for 10 years. Barbara and her husband James moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 1993. Barbara continued to work for Michael's Chain Store as head floral designer.

Barbara enjoyed and treasured her family and friends. She had a deep and abiding faith in Christ, which she shared throughout her life. Barbara enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Her grandchildren were her life and loved to get right down with them and play anything they wanted to.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairbury or Cornerstone Church of Madison, Tennessee.
