Obituary

Beatrice Tetley, 96, of Fairbury, passed away at 1:45 am, Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Father Richard Brunskill officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, July 29, 2014 also at the memorial home in Fairbury. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to American Legion Auxiliary #54 or VFW Auxiliary #9789, both of Fairbury.

Bea was born December 29, 1917 in Forrest; the daughter of Donald and Julia (Krohn) DeMoss. She married Philip Edwin Tetley on January 4, 1941 at St. John's Rectory in Fairbury, with Father Kubiak officiating. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1956. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Mae Watts.

Survivors include one son, Phil (Diane) Tetley of Normal, IL; One daughter, Mary (Stacy) Smith of Kissimmee, FL; four grandchildren, Christy Basham of Pontiac, IL; Phil Tetley of Chicago, IL; Jill Smith of Bloomingdale, IL; Scott (Jennifer) Smith of Roselle, IL; and six great grandchildren.

Bea and her husband managed two restaurants, the Crossroads Cafe in Forrest and the Honegger House Hotel and Cafe in Fairbury. Later, she was employed by the National Bank of Fairbury for 25 years, retiring in 1979.

Bea, a longtime resident of Fairbury, was a former Fairbury Citizen of the Year, a lifetime member of Centrillio Council of Girl Scouts and a 69 year Gold Star member of the American Legion Auxiliary #54. She was a past Chapeau of Ford County 8/40 Salon, a lifetime member of the Gold Star Wives of America, a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary #9789 and also served as Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge #112. She was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
