Chenoa – Betty J. Hostetter, 68, of Chenoa, formerly of Fairbury passed away at 5:25 pm, Thursday, June 24, 2021 at her residence in Chenoa.

Cremation rites have been accorded with a graveside service at 11am, Friday, July 2, 2021 at Avoca Township Cemetery, rural Fairbury with Pastor Kim Ernst officiating. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Livingston County Health Dept., Healthy Families.

Betty was born December 15, 1952, in Fairbury the daughter of Earl F. and Anita N. (Dart) Scherr. Her parents, one brother, George Scherr; one son, Chad Hostetter and her K-9 companion "Jade" preceded her in death. Survivors include her special friend and life companion, Michael Wright of Atlanta, GA; her grandson, Zachary Fellheimer of Bloomington; one brother, Leroy (Diane) Scherr of Downs; one sister, Doris (Allen) Reiners of Odell; sister in-law, Lois Scherr of East Peoria; numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends.

Betty was a 1971 graduate of Fairbury-Cropsey High School. The loss of her son Chad, almost 10 years ago left a deep wound.  Despite the many challenges she faced in life she would always have time to help anyone in need.  She will be remembered as an adopted Mom, Grandma or just a good friend to numerous young people in the area.   Her unselfish, kind heart and her generous loving spirit, will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
