Betty Jane Wiegand, 99, Fairbury, died at 2:10 am Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:45 am Thursday also at the church.  The family suggests memorials be given to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.  Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with arrangements.

Betty was born August 18, 1924 in Carlock, IL the daughter of Joe and Emma Gudeman Plattner.  She married Richard Wiegand on July 25, 1948 in Peoria.  He preceded her in death on February 12, 2017.

Survivors include a son, Brian Wiegand, Fairbury; 4 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren and a special niece, Mary Bachtold.

She is preceded in death by one daughter, three brothers and two sisters.

Betty was a homemaker and a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury.

Losing our grandmother is such a sad day. She was an amazing woman and we know that she is filled with joy, now that she is with grandpa again. She left us with lasting memories and traditions that we will carry on through our own families.  Tell grandpa we miss and love him too.
