Billy Carrol Dunn, 78, Fairbury passed away at 2:30 am Friday, March 7, 2014 at his residence in Fairbury surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 21, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, Fairbury with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Military honors will follow the service. Inurnment will take place in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax at a later date.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, March 20, 2014 and 10:00 to 10:45am Friday at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. The family suggest memorials be given to the First Baptist Church, Fairbury or OSF Hospice, Pontiac.

Mr. Dunn was born March 13, 1935 in Cromwell, KY the son of Benjamin "Carl" and Georgia Stevens Dunn. He married Carolyn Dunn on November 9, 1962 in Colfax, IL. She survives in Fairbury.

Other survivors include one son, Mark Dunn, one daughter, Mary Ellen (Karl) Herder, both of Fairbury, three grandchildren, Michael Joseph, Amber Lynn Herder and Kailea Lynn Dunn, one great grandchild, Channing Amya Emery and one sister, Sheryl (Tim) Warmouth, Champaign, IL.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Judy Harper.

Mr. Dunn served in the United States Army from August 22, 1957 to August 21, 1959. He was employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections for 25 years as a prison guard and also worked for the Department of Criminal Justice in Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fairbury, the Moose Lodge, Texas and the Pontiac VFW.
