Bobbie Lee Elliott, 83, passed away quietly at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL at 1:20am, on October 29, 2017, following a short illness. His son, daughter in law and grandson were with him at the time of his passing.
Bob was born May 5, 1934, Taylor, Michigan. His parents, Oscar and Iva (Dawson) Elliott and one sister Mary Lou Elliott, moved to Robinson, Illinois about 1940; where he graduated from Robinson High. He married Carolyn Jackson in 1957.
He served in the U.S. Army in Karlsruhe, Germany from 1957-58. Following his return, he lived in Robinson, Illinois, Bloomington, Illinois, Chenoa, Illinois and various other cities. He worked for General Telephone for many years before opening a service station on Towanda Avenue in Bloomington. Mr. Elliott and his son also owned Elliott IV Enterprises, encompassing trucking and rental properties for many years.
While living in Chenoa, Bob and Carolyn were members of the Trinity Lutheran Church and just celebrated 60 years of marriage. Bob never met a stranger and was extremely generous with his time. Later years saw him advising and enjoying people's company at Mark Johnson's Chenoa Motor Company.
A visitation is planned for November 2, 2017 from 3:00 – 6:30 pm at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with a memorial service planned to begin at 6:30 P.M.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife Carolyn, a son, Steven, daughter-in-law, Kristin, two nieces, Donna Brown and Connie Nelson, both of whom he loved like daughters, a grandniece Jennifer Brown Wilson , a grandnephew Mark Brown, and seven grand children, Molly Elliott, Katie Elliott, Thomas Elliott, Arielle Elliott, Michael Elliott, Elizabeth Elliott, and Abigail Elliott.
