C. Charles Maley, 75 of Fairbury passed away at 12:15 am, Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at his residence in Fairbury.
His funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday, August 28, 2009 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Charles McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Avoca Twp. Cemetery, rural Fairbury with military rites conducted by Fairbury VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday, August 27, 2009 also at the memorial home in Fairbury.
Charles was born August 15, 1934 in Maysville, KY the son of Clarence and Frances (Bodley) Maley. He married Marjorie Dameron on January 8, 1955 in Fort Lewis, WA. She survives in Fairbury.
Also surviving; four children; Dale (Connie) Maley, Fairbury, Karen (Ron Vance) Munz, Fairbury, Lisa (David) Roth, Washington, Brad (Lori) Maley, Fairbury, nine grandchildren; Jacob and Stacy Maley, Greg Munz, Jeff and Amanda Maley, Matt, Katie, Mark and Kelsie Roth, brother and sister in law; Dale and Florence Dameron, nieces and nephews; Lynn (Judy) Dameron, Peggy (Danny) Vaughan, Carolyn (Wayne) Gerber and Barry Dameron all of Fairbury.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to The Brian J. Munz Safety Complex, c/o Fairbury Fire Department / SELCAS, Fairbury.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson; Brian J. Munz.
Charles was a 1952 graduate of Fairbury Cropsey H.S. and enlisted with the US Army from 1954 – 1956. He was a farmer in the Fairbury area and part time plumber. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Fairbury, former member of Bloomington Elks Club and Moose Lodge and the Tiara Ballroom Dance Club, Bloomington.
He enjoyed Ballroom and Country dancing, attending his grandchildren's many activities and especially enjoyed watching his grandson, Matt play basketball at Indiana University.
