Carl E. "Sonny" Bridgeforth, 74, of Chatsworth died at 3:00 am Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Bloomington.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, May 12, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with the Rev. Charles McDonald officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:45 pm Monday at the memorial home. Inurnment will be in Antioch Cemetery, Oxly, Missouri at a later date.
Mr. Bridgeforth was born May 8, 1933 in Oxly, Missouri the son of Rex and Mary Gamblin Bridgeforth.
Surviving is a son Terry Bridgeforth, Hudson, Fl, three grandchildren, Ron Bales, Amy Adams, and Terry Shane Bridgeforth and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving is Matt Meyers who Carl raised and had currently made his home with.
Three brothers survive, Ray (Esther) Bridgeforth, Windsor, SC, Robert (Pat) Bridgeforth, Xenia, IL, Gilbert (Helen) Bridgeforth, Rutland, IL, five sisters, Faye Lingle, Wapella, IL, Fannie Bridgeforth, Rose (Jack) Gilbert, Sadie (Gary) Darm, all of Streator, IL, Elsie (Bob) Kline, Dana, IL, and one step-brother, Dean (Debbie) Davis, Fairdealing, MO.
Mr. Bridgeforth was a US Army veteran and had previously been employed at Pittsburgh Tube, Fairbury.
The family suggests memorials be given to the American Cancer Society.
