McLean – Carolyn Novak Berkley, 91, of McLean, died January 6, 2007 at 8:30PM at Manor Care Health Services in Normal.
A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 11:00AM at Wiley Cemetery, Colfax. Rev. Dan Jassman will be officiating. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the Colfax Christian Church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Carolyn was born March 22, 1915 in Colfax a daughter of John and Ehtel Bunn Scholl. They preceded her in death. She first married George Novak on Aug. 18, 1945. He died November 25, 1963. She then married Carl Berkley on June 27, 1969. He died March 8, 2005.
Surviving are one daughter, Dianne (Winston) Houchens, of Colfax; Stepchildren, Vernon (Donna) Berkley, of McLean, Betty (Donald) Unsicker of Tremont, Doris (Bernard) Wardrip, of Heyworth; 11 step-grandchildren; 23 step- great grandchildren; 5 step- great great grandchildren.
Carolyn is preceded in death by one son Richard Novak; one brother Hartsel Scholl and one sister Lylith Harms.
She retired from Eureka Williams and previously owned and operated Carolyn's Grocery in Colfax.
She is a member of Colfax Christian Church and May Queen Rebekah Lodge in LeRoy.
