Carolyn J. Hofmann, 78, Fairbury died at 5:55 pm Monday, May 19, 2014 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury with Pastor Steven Livengood officiating. Burial will be in Payne Twp. Cemetery, rural Chenoa.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, May 23, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Saturday at the church. The family suggest memorials be given to the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury or South Eastern Livingston County Ambulance Service (SELCAS).
Mrs. Hofmann was born March 15, 1936 in Chenoa, IL the daughter of Carl and Pearl Busby Spence. She married Ernest D. Hofmann on September 22, 1956 in Chenoa, IL. He survives in Fairbury, IL.
Also surviving are her children, Gary (Patty) Hofmann, Fairbury, IL, Greg (Teresa) Hofmann, Wichita, KS, Gail (Keith) Schladenhauffen, Fairbury, IL, Gina (Jon) McGlaun, Derby, KS, Glen (Ashleigh) Hofmann, Colfax, IL, eighteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a twin sister, Marilyn Poshard.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one son, Gene Hofmann, one great grandson, Nolan Emory, and one son-in-law, Paul Bittner.
Mrs. Hofmann was a 1954 graduate of Chenoa Twp High School. She volunteered at the Fox Center, Dwight and worked at the Fairbury Blade for many years. She was a member of the Chenoa Ladies VFW Auxiliary and the United Methodist Church.
