Carolyn Parry, 91, of Chenoa passed away just after midnight on Saturday, May 14 at Tampa General Hospital, Tampa Bay, FL.
A celebration of Carolyn's life will be 2 pm, Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa. Inurnment will follow the service in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa. A visitation with her family will be one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
Carolyn was born April 15, 1925, in Chenoa, to Myrtle (Bower) and Wilber Ray "Hi' Winter. She married Charles Merle Parry on April 13, 1946. They were both lifelong residents of Chenoa. He passed away in March 2013.
Carolyn is survived by daughter, Karen Wills and grandson, James Wills both of Largo, FL; brother, Kenneth (Jane) Winter, Ventura, CA: sister-in-law, Virginia Capasso, Fairbury; two nephews, Dr. John C. Capasso, Fairbury, and Jeff Capasso, Windsor, CO; two nieces, Camille (Charles) Torgeson, Camarillo, CA, and Cathy (Dan) Capasso Baird of Austin, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, nephew Randall Winter, and brother-in-law John A. Capasso.
Carolyn was educated in Chenoa Schools, graduating from Chenoa High School in the class of 1943, and was immediately employed by State Farm. Later she was employed by Monical's Accounting and Humiston Haven Nursing Home in Pontiac.
She was a Girl Scout member, troop leader, trainer, and member of the board of Centrillio Council. Her hobbies were camping, boating and genealogy. Carolyn and Merle had spent winters in Florida since 1989.
Carolyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chenoa, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Chenoa Historical Society, the Route 66 Association, and a Board Member of the Matthew T. Scott house in Chenoa
Memorials may be made to the Chenoa Historical Society or the First Presbyterian Church of Chenoa.
