Chenoa: Carrie L. Shane, 92, Chenoa died at 4:40 pm Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Meadows Mennonite Home, Chenoa.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, April 28, 2007 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Chenoa with the Rev. Jerry Koch officiating. Burial will be at Southside Cemetery, Pontiac. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:15 am Saturday at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Shane was born June 26, 1914 at Pontiac. The daughter of Alexander Culthel and Ethel Almeda Moore Russell. She married David Shane March 11, 1934 at Pontiac. He died April 16, 1983.
Surviving are two sons: Kenneth (Carolyn) Shane, Chenoa, James R. (Janice) Shane, Las Vegas, NV, and one daughter: JoAnn Bayston, Pontiac, five sisters: Hazel Cloos, Cabery, Bessie McDonald, Shorewood, Dorothy Mae Henkel, Flanagan, Mabel Irene Lopeman, Urbana, and Ferne Baird, Valparaiso, IN. Seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.
She is preceded in death by one brother.
Mrs. Shane was a lifetime resident of the Pontiac and Chenoa area. She had been employed at the Pontiac Glove Factory for a number of years and farmed with her husband until their retirement in 1982. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Chenoa.
The family suggests memorials be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to Meadows Mennonite Home.
