Forrest - Catherine Ann Joiner, 91 of Forrest passed away peacefully at 5:15 pm, Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac.

Cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial service at 11 am, Friday, February 4, 2022 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury; with Pastor Paul Lellelid officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Livingston County Humane Society, Pontiac.

Mrs. Joiner was born on February 24, 1930 in Peoria, the daughter of Jonas Edward and Ann Constance (Armour) Kalmi.  She married Hobart Joiner on October 7, 1950 in Tiskilwa, IL; Her husband preceded her in death on September 11, 2004. Her parents and one brother, William Kalmi also preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, Ross (Carol) Joiner of Fairbury; two grandchildren, Nicole and Nathan; nephew, Kim Kalmi of Colorado; her beloved dog, Rinzing II and special friend, Lisa Watson and her family.

She was educated in Chicago public schools and later graduated from Bradley University, Peoria; with her Master's degree in elementary education.  She taught grade school for many years in several school districts in Illinois, finishing her career in the Prairie Central School District.  She was a substitute teacher well into her seventies.

Catherine loved to travel, she enjoyed nature, animals, and walking her dog Rinzing II in the park across from her home in Forrest. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Forrest, IL.
