Charlie Farley, 84, of Fairbury, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 9:50pm, Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury. Ministers of the church will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be held from 4-7:00pm, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9-9:45am, Wednesday at the church.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury or Fairbury Fire Department.
Charlie was born April 10, 1931 in Fairbury the son of Ray Albert and Elizabeth "Betty" Myer Farley. He married Arlene M. Zehr on November 24, 1951 in Fairbury. She survives.
Also surviving are his son James C. (Carla) Farley of Omaha, NE; daughter, Julie A. (Greg) Bazzell of Fairbury; five grandchildren, Sarah (Ben) Gill of Kansas City, MO, Joseph J. Farley of Cedar Fall, IA, Abbie, Mitchell and Kylie Bazzell of Fairbury; sister, Mary L. (Robert) Cummins of Fairbury and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Charlie graduated from Fairbury Township High School, Class of 1949. He then served in the United States Army from 1951-1953 in LaRochelle, France.
After the military he farmed with his father from 1954-1962; last working at Farmers Grain Coop of Fairbury until he retired in 1993.
After retiring he drove for several local businesses.
Charlie was a member of the Fairbury American Legion, Odd Fellows and Indian Creek Country Club. He also was past director for Livingston County Farm Bureau.
Charlie enjoyed softball, bowling and golf. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his family and attending the activities of his grandchildren.
