Obituary

Charles Edward Friedman, 80, of Normal formerly of Fairbury passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Funeral Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Fairbury with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury with military rites conducted by Fairbury American Legion and VFW.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The family suggests that memorials be directed to, First Baptist Church of Fairbury, American Cancer Society or Fairbury VFW Post #9789.

Charles was born March 26, 1932 in Belle Prairie Township, Livingston County a son to Tony and Olive (Bachtold) Friedman. He married Doris Snow March 25, 1956 and later married Helen (Rudisill) Dillon on July 13, 1991. She survives in Normal.
Other survivors include, one daughter, June (James) Yoder, Forrest; one son, Brian (Sherry) Friedman, Pontiac; four stepchildren, Robert (Lesa) Dillon, Bloomington; Mark (Krista) Dillon, New Berlin, IL; Jeff (Lezlee) Dillon, Lake Bloomington, IL; Julie (Craig) Brock, Weldon, IL; two sisters, Bertha Sharp, Chatsworth; Hazel (Maurice) Johnson, Fairbury; six brothers, John (Betty) Friedman, Rantoul; Robert Friedman, Mesa, AZ; Henry (Marjorie) Friedman, Fairbury; Alvin (Doris) Friedman, Bonita Springs, FL; Glenn (Carol) Friedman, Destin, FL; Richard (Sandra) Friedman, Fairbury; sister in-law, Frances Friedman, Fairbury; two grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gregory Friedman, one sister Pearl Meister, one brother, Harold Friedman, sister-in-law, Dolores Friedman and brother-in-law, Leon Sharp.

Charles served our country in the US Army during the Korean War as a Corporal. He received the Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed at Case IH in Fairbury, and retired from Nussbaum Trucking Co., Normal in 1994. Charles was an avid hunter.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairbury, Fairbury American Legion John Joda Post #54, Fairbury, VFW Post #9789. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
