Charles J. Perkins, 85 of Chenoa, passed away at 5:00 am, Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.

Per Chuck's request cremation rites have been accorded.  There will be a celebration of his life at a later date.   Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue & Care Center, Colfax.

Charles was born February 17, 1933 in Chatsworth; a son to James R. and Annis (Harlan) Perkins.  He married Marlene Henline on October 27, 1951 in Chenoa.  His wife survives in Meadows. His parents, one brother, Kenneth Perkins and one sister, LouElla Mounce preceded him in death.

Other survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Kevin) Coomes of Long Prairie, MN; one son, Timothy (Colleen) Perkins of Hohenwald, TN;two granddaughters, Bria (Wesley) Sancken of Forrest; Kaleigh Ziegler of Pekin; two grandsons, Kyle Coomes of Cold Spring, MN; Andrew Adams of Wenona; four great grandchildren, Brynn Runyon, Willow Sancken, Drake Ziegler, Wyatt Adams and one great grandchild coming soon.  Also surviving are one sister, Marlene Thompson of CA; one brother, Donald (Pat) Perkins of Fairbury.

Chuck was a machinist at General Electric, Bloomington, Caterpillar in Pontiac, and Weber Metal in Chenoa.  He loved his family and was known as the "Neighborhood Grandpa" to many in Chenoa.   He was an avid Motorcycle nut and enjoyed riding for many years.  His quiet Teddy Bear personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
