Charles O. Rhoda, 83, Chenoa, died at 6:55 pm Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, March 27, 2015 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa with Pastor Jeremy Latzke officiating. Burial will be in Chenoa Twp. Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday also at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is assisting with arrangements. The family suggests memorials be given to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church or Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, both in Chenoa.
Charlie was born September 27, 1931 in Chenoa, IL the son of Alvin Christian and Lola May Dawson Rhoda. He married Mary Elizabeth Wissmiller on November 7, 1959 in Gibson City, IL. She survives in Chenoa.
Other survivors include 1 daughter, Pamela (Thomas) Norris, Chenoa, IL, 2 sons, Gregory C. (Susan McCray) Rhoda, Sherman, IL, Eric (Dawn) Rhoda, Chenoa, IL, 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mitchell, and Jennifer Ward, Hannah Norris, Justin, Jaron, Brooke, Tyler, Ryan, and Alex Rhoda, 2 sisters, Genevieve Colston, Springfield, IL, Leila Carlson, Lexington, IL, and 1 brother, Fred (Elaine) Rhoda, Chenoa, IL.
He is preceded in death by 1 sister, Roberta Garrett.
Chuck was a 1949 graduate of Chenoa High School. He served in the US Army and was a lifelong farmer. He drove a feed truck at the Meadows Coop and later was employed at the Prairie Central Coop.
He was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa having served as an elder. Chuck and Mary were Space Age Pioneer 4-H leaders and he enjoyed building hayracks for area farmers.
