Cooksville – Chrisotpher McCabe, 50, of Cooksville, passed away at 6:51am, February 6, 2024, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.

Cremation has been accorded.

A celebration of life will begin at 3:00pm, Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Colfax American Legion.  The family invites everyone to wear their favorite hat.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Chris was born August 30, 1973, in Chicago, the son of James and Deborah (Rumann) Riffey. He married Jessica Hagar. She survives.

Also surviving are his son, Evan McCabe of Cooksville; daughter, Taylor Cooper of Anchor; sister, Mary Beth (Petri) Tad of Marion, TX; brother, Donovan (Cendra) McCabe of El Paso; father-in law, David and Sheri Hagar of New Mexico; brother-in-law, DJ Hagar of Anchor; and several nieces and nephews.

Chris worked for AW Dynamometer in Pontiac for 16 years.

Early on, despite many hardships, Christopher began to build an epic empire of amazing cohorts that were true and unique as himself. Those met in travels will not easily forget that kind hearted man with the gift of gab, love of music, nature and all things odd. These qualities made for a life full of purpose. A story for every hat, a cherished memory for every friend. More than missed, his presence will be desperately needed never again to be. His laugh, wit, comradery and guidance will be yearned for by all those he has touched. May the teas flow forth create a calm comforting river carrying Chris on his eternal float trip.
