Clifford W. Atkins, 95, of Fairbury, passed away at 2:20 am on July 11, 2011 at Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac.
His funeral will be at 11:00am on Friday, July 15, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, Fairbury. Pastor Steven Livengood will be officiating. Burial will be in Chenoa Cemetery.
Visitation will from 5-7:00pm on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Fairbury or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Clifford was born March 27, 1916 in rural Chenoa, the son of Aldridge Waverly and Elmina E. Hopkins Atkins. He married T. Catherine Adreon on January 1, 1941 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. She died January 15, 1997.
Surviving are his daughter, Judy (Richard) Rhoda of Chenoa; son, Dale (Sheryle) Atkins of Fairbury; sister-in-laws, Viola Atkins of Chenoa and Alberta Adreon,of Fairbury; grandsons, Todd (Janni) Rhoda, Kurt (Kim) Rhoda both of Chenoa, Darin Rhoda of Bloomington, Chad (Courtney) Atkins of Gridley, Neil (Karin) Atkins of Lexington, Dean (Darcy) Atkins of Chenoa; 11 great-grandchildren, and faithful friend Maxine Douvia of Pontiac.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harry Atkins and Earl Atkins and two sisters, Velda Atkins and Flossie Kugler.
Clifford loved farming and did so for a lifetime in the Fairbury and Chenoa area. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fairbury and Tarbolton Masonic Lodge #351, Fairbury. Clifford loved winters in Florida, dancing, fishing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends who will deeply miss him.
