Cova G. Smith, 89, Fairbury, passed away peacefully at 11:30am, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury with her three children at her side.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the 1st United Methodist Church, Fairbury with Pastor Floyd Blackard officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:30 to 10:15 am Thursday at the church. The family suggests memorials be given to the 1st United Methodist Church; Fairview Haven Retirement Community or SELCAS all of Fairbury.

Mrs. Smith was born October 6, 1925 in Hardinsburg, KY the daughter of James D. and Mary Z. Henning Patterson. She married Roy Smith on July 18, 1942 in Hardinsburg, KY. He died on August 6, 2002.

Survivors include her children, Jim Smith; Betty (Louis) Retter; Mary (Randy) Zimmerman, all of Fairbury, IL, 7 grandchildren, Jason Smith, Chris Smith, Becky (Gary) Conley, Bob Retter, Kim (Mark) Haab, Kelli (Ryan) Coleman, Kara (Logan) Spenard; and 10 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mrs. Smith retired from the Pontiac Chair Company in 1988. She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church, Fairbury and enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Cova was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
