Dale Robert Ellis, 81 of Fairbury; passed away at 2:28 pm, Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at OSF St. Joseph's Medical Center, Bloomington.

Cremation rites have been accorded with a eulogy and time of sharing service at 7pm, Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Wednesday, also at the funeral home in Fairbury; prior to the time of sharing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Dale was born on December 14, 1937 in Fairbury, the son of Roy R. and Margaret (Trapp) Ellis.  His parents, and three brothers; Raymond, Allen and Donald Ellis preceded him in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Lori Ellis of Forrest; three nieces, Beverly (Wayne) Stotler of Hudson; Karen (Gene) Denick of Tucson, AZ; Dawn (Richard) Huber of Fairbury; and special friend, Mary Beth Maurer of Fairbury.

Mr. Ellis served our country in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1967.  He worked for over 30 years at Ellis Canvas and later Fairbury Tarp; a business started by his brother Ray.  Dale loved nature and was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying hunting and fishing.  He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge #290 in Fairbury.  Dale was a quiet and somewhat private man who would have done anything for anyone in need.
