Obituary
Daniel W. "Jim" Slagel, 86, Fairbury died at 11:35 am Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Gibson Area Hospital Annex, Gibson City, IL.
Private funeral services will be held Monday, December 13, 2010 with the ministers of the German Apostolic Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in East Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Slagel was born February 16, 1924 in Fairbury, IL the son of Daniel and Martha Swing Slagel. He married Mary K. Haas December 24, 1950 in Pontiac, IL. She survives in Fairbury.
Also surviving are six sons, Dennis (Lorene) Slagel, Donald (Susan) Slagel, both of Fairbury, Mark (Suzanne) Slagel, Strawn, Robert (Marsha) Slagel, Fairbury, Paul (Luci) Slagel, Forrest, Steven (Joann) Slagel, Fairbury, four daughters, Brenda (Charles) Mueller, Arrowsmith, Karen (Duane) Meister, Ashkum, Elaine (Mark) Davis, Forrest, Kathleen (Troy) Lanz, Strawn, one sister-in-law, Thelma Slagel, Fairbury, fifty two grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Kaeb, four brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Slagel was a lifetime farmer and a member of the German Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury.
