Colfax, David Gilmore, 66, of Colfax, passed away at 9:09am, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at his residence.
His funeral will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Colfax. Pastor Gary Gromley will be officiating.
Burial will be Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.
Visitation will be held from 4-8:00pm, Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax.
Memorials may be made to Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association, SIDS, or Lexington United Methodist Church.
David was born July 24, 1948, in Normal, the son of Wilbur G. and Esther M. McKeehan Gilmore.
He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Fillmore, on December 19, 1970. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Amy (BJ) Wesson of Colfax and Kimberly Gilmore of Lawndale; granddaughters, Mackenzie, Courtney, and Ashley Wesson and Grace, Brooklyn and Isabella Curry; brothers, Darwyn (Melanie) of Cicero, IN and Dennis (Becky) of Bloomington and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents,one sister, and his beloved son Chad David Gilmore.
Dave graduated from Octavia High School in 1966 and attended junior college at Winston Churchill in Pontiac. He went on to graduate from Illinois State University in 1971. Dave served in the Air National Guard until he was honorably discharged in 1977.
Dave was a farm chemical salesman for over 40 years. Most of his career was spent working for Ottawa Plant Food, in Ottawa. Dave was an active member of the Lexington United Methodist Church.
Dave was dedicated man of God. He endured six months of esophageal cancer, never giving up until our heavenly Father called him home.
He was the best "Paw Paw" anyone could ask for. He loved all of "his girls and BJ" more than anything in this world. He shared his love of the outdoor sports with all six of his granddaughters; even building them a dirt track in his backyard to ride their four-wheelers. He had a passion for his family, friends, job, and customers. Always there to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by all.
