Obituary

David "Arlo" Hetherington, 58, of Fairbury, passed away at 5:25pm on June 6, 2010 at his residence in Fairbury.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Friday, June 11, 2010 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Christian Ricker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services also at the funeral home in Fairbury. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury where the Fairbury VFW Post 9789 will perform military honors.

Arlo was born January 12, 1952 in Fairbury the son of Thomas H. and Emma M. Wheaton Hetherington.
Surviving are his children, Charmin (Daniel) Todd of Chenoa, Davina (Adam) Shawback, Jerod (Robyn) Hetherington both of Fairbury, and Cody Hetherington of Forrest; five brothers, Tommy Hetherington of Fairbury, Richard (Sharon) Hetherington of Bloomington, Emery Hetherington, Danny (Dollie) Hetherington both of Fairbury, and Jimmy (Audrey) Hetherington of Forrest; one sister, Lindy Croft, Pontiac; sister-in-law Truth Hetherington, Chenoa; eight grandchildren, Chase Todd, Dakota; Jasmine and Hunter Shawback; Kaylee, Allie and Trentn Hetherington, Elli Hetherington, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Edward Hetherington and one sister, Shirley Law.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and a lifetime member of the Fairbury VFW post #9789. Arlo was a man of few words who loved fishing and racing and had a soft heart.
