David Benjamin Schmid, 101, Fairbury, died at 4:20am Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at OSF St. James – John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

A private serviceswill be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 at East Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury with ministers of the German Apostolic Christian Church officiating.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be given to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mr. Schmid was born May 26, 1915 in Morris, MN the son of Karl and Karoline Kellerhals Schmid. He married Elaine A. Young on April 20, 1957 in Danville, IL. She survives in Fairbury.

Other survivors include their children, Joyce (Frank) Nestor, Pontiac, Donald (Lisa) Schmid, Chenoa, Sheryl (Marlin) Miller, Lexington and 8 grandchildren.

Mr. Schmid was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 infant granddaughter.

He was a lifetime farmer and factory worker. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He attended the German Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury.
