David Eugene Sronce, 88, passed away on November 3, 2025, at his home in Lexington, Illinois surrounded by loved ones. David was born on October 3,1937, in Clinton, Illinois, son of Vernon and Alice Mae (Crawford) Sronce.
David lived on Swisher Hill for the first 3 years of his life. His family then moved to the farm located south of Clinton. It was there that he farmed with his father for about 20 years and continued farming on his own near Weldon Springs for 24 years.
In 1955 he graduated from Clinton Community High School where he enjoyed basketball and the FFA. During that year, with devotion and duty to Country he enlisted in the Illinois National Guard where he had many opportunities to serve his state and country. He retired with high regards from the Guard with the rank of Master Sergeant after 27 years of service.
He married his High School sweetheart, Sue Ann Dawson, November 24,1961. Together they raised 3 amazing children in their country home. It was a 64 year devotion of love that continues for generations to come.
David worked for Farmer's Grain Company of Central Illinois, Chestnut IL, where he managed the Hallsville elevator for 25 years. David was also a talented handyman and could fix anything. He enjoyed helping friends and neighbors with their home repairs.
He enjoyed serving in his community. He was a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge of Clinton, IL. He also gave many hours of service in the United Methodist Church of Weldon, IL, and of Port Charlotte, FL.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Ann (Dawson) Sronce; daughter, Lorey (Keith) Morefield of Arrowsmith, IL; son, Allen (Candace Mann) Sronce of Idyllwild, CA; daughter, Sarah (Kent) Jensen of Clearfield, UT; grandchildren, Corey Goad, Tyler Morefield, Randy Sronce, Matthew Jensen, Christian Jensen; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Robert Sronce of Maroa, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, four sisters and great-granddaughter, Carrington Morefield.
David was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
