Delmar L. Mallicoat, 83, Colfax, died at 6:27 pm Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Heritage Health, Normal.

A celebration of Delmar's life will be held June 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Colfax American Legion.

Delmar was born March 9, 1934 in Bloomington, IL the son of Lloyd and Hazel Hargis Mallicoat. He was raised by his uncle Bill and aunt Helen McFarland after his mother Hazel passed away in 1939. He married Barbara Lynette Pitts on September 16, 1960 in San Jose, CA. She survives in Colfax.

Other survivors include their children, Bunnie (Ed) Morey, Kingman, AZ; Cheryl (Gilbert) Kelly, Newnan, GA; Dawn (Scott) Stuart, Towanda; Troy (Debbie) Mallicoat, Mackinaw, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one sister, Joan Menken, Towanda; and one brother, Bill McFarland, Springfield.

He is preceded in death by two sons, Ted and Dean Mallicoat; one sister, Cindy Laesch.

Delmar served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked in building maintenance at the Central Illinois Regional Airport, Bloomington for 31 years. He was a member of the Colfax American Legion for 45 years. Delmar was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan and Chicago Cubs fan. He saw his dream come true in November of a World Series Championship. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He put his family first above all else.

The family suggests memorials be given to the Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association or the Octavia Fire Protection District.
