Fairbury – Diane E. Rieger, 77, of Fairbury, formerly of Chatsworth, passed away at 4:21pm, November 6, 2024, at Serenity Villa at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Her funeral will be held at 10:00am, Monday, November 11, 2024, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Forrest. Burial will be in Forrest Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3-6:00pm, Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, and 9-9:45am, on Monday at the church.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Serenity Villa or SELCAS.
Diane was born December 18, 1946, in Fairbury, the daughter of Harley and Lorraine (Coleman) Honegger. She married Ronald Lee Rieger on July 28, 1968, in Forrest. He died September 18, 2004.
Surviving are her children, Robert Rieger of Fairbury, Rebecca (Robert) McAdam of Plainfield, and Elizabeth Rieger of Bourbonnais; grandchildren, Aaron McAdam, Katie McAdam, Piper Rieger, and Ryland Rieger; brother, Mark (Lou) Honegger of Forrest; and special friend Rodger Bennett of Thawville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Barb Baumann.
Diane worked at Prairie FS in Forrest and was a bookkeeper for Prairie Central Schools from 1997-2012.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Forrest, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the church council. While she raised her children, Diane was a member of Home Extension and was a 4-H Leader.
Diane was a life member of the Forrest American Legion Auxiliary. She also was the past president of the District American Legion.
Diane enjoyed annual family trips to Chetek, WI every summer. A tradition she started with her husband and children over 40 years ago. This valued family tradition continues with their children and grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Serenity Villas. The Staff had become a second family to Diane. She loved them and they loved her.
