Obituary

Dlorah Jean Zehr, 68, Fairbury died at 4:35pm Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the scene of an automobile accident in Eppards Point Twp., Livingston County.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury with the Rev. Spencer Homan officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be 3:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday and 9:30 to 10:15 am Wednesday at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting the family with arrangements. The family suggests memorials be given to the First Presbyterian Church or to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.

Dlorah was born September 15, 1943 in Fairbury the daughter of Harold Henry and Christine Strode Ward. She married Richard William Zehr on January 27, 1963 in Fairbury. He died on November 3, 2008.

Surviving are two sons, Todd (Judy) Zehr, Fairbury, Steven (Sherry) Zehr, Omaha, NE, ten grandchildren, Chad, Josh and Taylor Zehr, Anna and Grant Ricketts, Ava, Nathan and Mia Zehr, Paige and Emily Heiser, three sisters, Linda Fosdick, Marsha (Barry) Reeves, both of Bloomington, and Georgia (Herb) Steffen, Cropsey, IL.

She is preceded in death by one son, Trent Ward Zehr, and one daughter, Kristyn Jean Ricketts.

She was a 1961 graduate of Fairbury – Cropsey High School and a 1985 graduate of Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing. Dlorah was a Registered Nurse having been employed by Dr. Dan Nord and later for nineteen years at the Livingston County Health Department.

She was the President of the Graceland Mausoleum Association. An active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury having served as Deacon and a member of its Dorcus Circle.
