Donald K. Broquard, 93, Fairbury, died at 4:20 am Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Serenity Villa at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury with Ministers of the Church officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, August 28, 2023 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Tuesday at the church. The family suggests memorials be given to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Mr. Broquard was born November 29, 1929 in Weston, IL the son of George and Clara Sutter Broquard. He married Ione M. Anliker on March 17, 1957 in Lamont, KS. She survives in Fairbury.
Other survivors include their children, Samuel (Valla) Broquard, Nancy (Wayne) Zimmerman, both of Fairbury; Jane (Jay) Luthi, Madison, KS; Diane (James) Kaeb, Sabetha, KS; Crystal (Jeff) Cargill, Bloomington, IL; 24 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; three sisters; Elaine Wieland, Kawkawlin, MI; Suzanne (Arthur) Bahler, Fairbury; Carol Wieland, Goshen, IN; two brothers, Wayne (Roberta) Broquard, Fairbury and Duane (Carol) Broquard, Leo, IN.
He is preceded in death by: a son, John Broquard; a brother, Dale Broquard; and two brothers-in-law, Cliff Wieland and Merle Wieland.
Mr. Broquard was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School for many years. He was a lifetime farmer who strived to be a good steward of the land. He served in the United States Army as a surgical technician during the Korean War from 1951-1953. Donald was a devoted father and grandfather who exerted a positive influence in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
