Donald "Sam" Hedrick, 69, of Fairbury, died August 10, 2007 at 2:31PM at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 13, 2007 from 4-8:00PM at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 11:00AM also at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to service. Rev. Charles McDonald will be officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Sam was born June 21, 1938 in Lutesville, MO the son of Raymond Earl and Ruby Mae Durham Hedrick. They preceded him in death.
He married Margie Nance on June 18, 1960 in Pontiac. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Tom (Pam) Hedrick, Tonja Schauble both of Fairbury, Terri (Mike) Mitchell of Morton, Tim (Melody) Hedrick of Fairbury; eight grandchildren, Denver Hedrick, Brooke (Jason) Welborn, Cassie, Jessie, Tate and Marlie Schauble, Cory and Sara Mitchell; one brother, Walter Doyle Hedrick of Pontiac; and two sisters, Wanda (Bud) Woodward of Forrest and Erline (Scott) Long of Fairbury.
Sam retired from the Fairbury Police Department after 25 years. During that time he served as the Police Chief for 13 years.
Sam was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed his retirement at Mark Twain Lake fishing with his close friends.
