Donna Jean Cumpston of Colfax Illinois died peacefully Monday afternoon at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal with many loved ones at her side. Donna was born July, 11, 1935 in Jacksonville, IL to parents Russell and Esther (Smith) Saylor and Step-Father Floyd McGee. She married Robert Cumpston, the love of her life, on May 14, 1966. Their marriage united five children that they lovingly raised together on their farm in Colfax, IL.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, son, Kim March Cumpston,and a great granddaughter Kelley Jo Corda.
She is survived by her husband, sister, Betty Girard Holmes, Children, Kelly Wickware, Traci Cole-Stiperski, Cameron Cumpston, and Shar (Sam) Robinson.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Misty (Jeff) Corda, Shane (Piper) Kelley, Rory
McCue, Lindsi (Jason) Coomer, Shaun McCue, Kelby Cumpston, Brody Cumpston, and Isaiah Wickware, and 12 great grandchildren, several nieces and a nephew, along with
many loving friends.
Donna partnered with her husband, Bob, in running their art business and farm. She was one of the original members in establishing the Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association.
She was an E.M.T. and volunteered those services in the Mennonite Hospital ER. Donna was coordinator of the Ridgeview Food Pantry, (her chosen ministry) and was an active member of the Colfax United Methodist Church. She sang with the Bloomington Sweet Adelines and was also a member of the Felicity Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Normal.
She loved her home, her family, friends and most of all taking care of others. She devoted her life to making sure those around her were happy. Her favorite times were when she was cooking for her family.
Memorials can be made to the Ridgeview Food Pantry or the Colfax United Methodist Church.
A celebration of Donna's life will take place at Duffy- Pils Memorial Home, Colfax on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00pm and 10:00 to 10:45am Saturday at the Colfax United Methodist Church followed by a celebration of the continuance of her new life in heaven at the Colfax United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11:00am.
