Memorial Service
Doris Arline Cox, 77, of Fairbury, IL, passed away on March 17, 2026, at Goldwater Care in Gibson City, IL.
Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Fairbury from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, followed by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Alan Willdasen. Burial will take place at South Graceland Cemetery in Fairbury.
Doris was born May 29, 1948, in Fairbury, IL the daughter of John I. and Rose Elizabeth (Lorch) Bushman. She married J.T. (John) Cox on February 28, 1970, in Fairbury, IL.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J.T. (John) Cox on October 6, 2025.
Doris is survived by her two sons, Justin (Kim) Cox of Bloomington, IL, and Jarrett (Mindy) Cox of LeRoy, IL; her four cherished grandchildren, Jaci, Haley, Gunner, and Jordan Cox; her sister, Marlene Janssen of Fairbury, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Doris was a 1966 graduate of Fairbury-Cropsey High School, where she was a drum majorette for four years, also Vice-President of the G.A.A, member of the Latin Club and girls chorus. After graduation Doris went on to attend cosmetology school and graduated June 23, 1967. She dedicated many years of her life as a beautician, a profession she truly loved. She took great pride in her work and formed lasting relationships with her clients, always looking forward to time spent with “her” customers, who meant so much to her.
She loved spending time with her family and found great joy in watching her children and their friends grow up and build families of their own. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and took immense pride in everything they did.
Doris will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to others, and the special connections she made throughout her life.
Memorials may be made in her honor to the Central Illinois Down Syndrome Organization.
