Obituary
Colfax – Doris L. Jacobs, 73, of Colfax passed away at 11:25am Sunday, February 26, 2012 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Her funeral will be at 10:00am on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. Pastor Greg Summers will be officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Arrowsmith.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 also at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Doris was born December 13, 1938 in Chenoa the daughter of William and Helen Marie Adams Saathoff.
She married William Jacobs, Sr. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Dee (Victor) Lancaster of Arrowsmith, Robert Spence of Monticello, Tina Douglas of Lockport, and Rita Turner of Anchor; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Josephine Potts of Stanford; brother, Bill (Mary) Saathoff of Lubbock, TX.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, and three grandchildren.
She worked at Johnson Hospital and Nursing Home in Arrowsmith and as a dental hygienist in Normal, in her early years. She then worked as a Pantagraph carrier for several years. Doris then found her passion of caring for people while working at the YWCA senior program and Leroy Manor.
Doris loved gardening, embroidering and spending time with her family and friends.
