Doris J. Teubel, 65, Aloha, OR passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2019 at her home.
Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the 1 st . Baptist Church, Fairbury with Pastor Daryl Evans officiation. Burial will be in South Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 10:45 am Saturday also at the church. Memorials may be given to the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University, Normal. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with arrangements.
Doris was born on February 1, 1954 in Fairbury the daughter of Herman and Alice Bender Teubel. She graduated from Mennonite School of Nursing in Bloomington in 1982 and worked at Oregon Health Science University for the last 30 years in the ambulatory surgery department as a surgical nurse.
She is survived by 3 sisters, Ruth Teubel, Mary (Alfred) Slagel, both of Fairbury, and Joann (Jerry) McKenney, Kent, WA. She has 5 nieces and nephews: Laura (Jason) Hatmaker, Lancaster, KY, Karl Slagel, Fairbury, Julie (Michael) Matejcak, Frankfurt, Germany, Laura McKenney, Vancouver, WA, and Manuel McKenney, Kent, WA as well as 2 great nieces and 3 great nephews.
Doris was a long-time member of the Aloha Church of God and loved her church family. She passionately served in many capacities and was active in the women's ministry, volunteering for the food bank, held positions on various committees, added her touch to the sanctuary with flowers and candles, and was a faithful prayer partner.
She loved flowers, gardening, humming birds and traveling. Doris participated in a mission trip to Russia and two mission trips to Haiti to serve as a volunteer surgical nurse on medical teams. But most of all she loved her friends and family and will always be remembered for her sweet and generous spirit.
