Dorothy C. French, 97, Fairbury died at 7:21 am Friday, March 15, 2013 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm Monday, March 18, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Spencer Homan officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be 12:30 to 2:15 pm Monday also at the memorial home. The family suggests memorial offerings be directed to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Mrs. French was born July 31, 1915 in Fairbury, IL the daughter of Emmons and Kathryn E. Haab Spencer. She married Loren French on September 26, 1932 in Peoria, IL. He died on January 19, 1998.

Surviving are four daughters; Kathryn K. Davis, Sharen (Phil) Paternoster, both of Fairbury, Karen (Brian) Armstrong, Normal, and Lauren (Steve) Sodemann, Champaign, fifteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by one son, Greg French, one daughter, Janet Lee "Dubbie" Armstrong, one granddaughter, Denise Davis, one great great grandson, Felix Arturo Cardoso IV, and two brothers.

Mrs. French had been employed as a cook at Westview Elementary school, Fairbury for twenty five years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury, American Legion Auxiliary, Home Extension, Livingston County Girl Scout leader, Merry Makers Club, and Rebekah Lodge.

She enjoyed playing golf, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her family and friends who will miss her deeply.
