Colfax: Dorothy Russellene Thomas, 80, of Normal formerly of Colfax died at 12:20 PM, Sunday, April 13, 2008 at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal, IL.

Her funeral service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax with Pastor Wendell Wardell officiating the service. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. There will be a visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008 also at the memorial home in Colfax.

Dorothy was born July 6, 1927 in Colfax, a daughter to Russell and Lucille (Jones) Bundy. She married Vernon Lyle Thomas on May 25, 1947 in Bloomington, IL. He died December 7, 2007.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Gary) Shelton, Bloomington, one son; Duane (Crystal) Thomas, Colfax, two grandsons; Joshua and Cole Thomas both of Colfax, three sisters; Elaine (Robert) Sandage, Arrowsmith, LaMoyne (Julius) Miller, Springfield, IL IL and Carrol (James) Steenbergen, Washington, IL.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to Eastern McLean County Ambulance, Colfax, IL

Dorothy was a graduate of Colfax High School, treasurer and deaconess of her church for many years. Being a tomboy at heart, she loved being outdoors whether it was farming or playing ball with her grandsons. In her younger days she enjoyed playing basketball and softball. She was devoted to her faith, family, and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
